Sound familiar?

You fall asleep fine. It's 3 or 4am that's the problem.

Asleep by 11. Wide awake at 4. Same time, most nights.

You check the clock, count the hours left, and lie there while your head starts on tomorrow's list. Maybe you used to be a brilliant sleeper. Maybe you've already tried magnesium and decided it doesn't do much.

If that's you, read the next part before you buy another bottle of anything.

Already tried magnesium?

Why the last bottle may not have been a fair test

  1. The big number on the front

Many magnesium labels lead with the weight of the whole compound: 400 mg, 500 mg. The magnesium itself is listed on the back, in the Supplement Facts, and it's often a fraction of the number on the front. If you never saw that number, you never knew your dose.

  2. A form you didn't choose

Oxide, citrate, glycinate: magnesium comes in different forms, and the form changes how your body handles it. Plenty of people took whichever bottle was on the shelf and never knew which form it was.

  3. A capsule count with no dose attached

A range like "1 to 4 capsules a day" leaves you guessing. Hushwell's serving is fixed: 3 capsules, 275 mg of magnesium.

  4. Something built to knock you out

Some sleep products are built to sedate, and some people wake up groggy after them. If that's what put you off, know exactly what you're taking: Hushwell has one active ingredient, magnesium glycinate, and no melatonin.

None of that means magnesium can't work for you. It means you may never have given it a fair test.

Why 275 mg

The 250–350 window

Most magnesium brands compete on a bigger number. We picked ours on purpose.

  1. 250 mg

The dose used in a 2025 sleep study

A placebo-controlled study in adults reporting poor sleep used 250 mg of magnesium a day, from magnesium bisglycinate.

  2. 350 mg

The daily ceiling for supplemental magnesium

The NIH sets the adult upper limit for magnesium from supplements at 350 mg a day, and notes that high supplemental doses often cause diarrhea.

  3. 275 mg

    Ours, on purpose

Above the studied dose. Under the ceiling. Taking a multivitamin with magnesium as well? Add it up.

  4. 1

    One active ingredient

Magnesium glycinate and nothing else active. No melatonin, no blend. Take it for 60 nights and you'll know exactly what you tested.

The sources

What the research says, and what it doesn't

A 2025 placebo-controlled study used 250 mg

155 adults aged 18 to 65 who reported poor sleep took either 250 mg of magnesium from magnesium bisglycinate or a placebo, daily for 4 weeks. It's one study, and we don't claim Hushwell will do for you what a study found on average. We match the dose and give you 60 nights to judge it yourself.

The 350 mg upper limit

The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements sets the adult upper limit for magnesium from supplements and medications at 350 mg a day. It doesn't count magnesium from food. It also notes that high doses from supplements often cause diarrhea.

How much magnesium is in a serving?

275 mg of magnesium per 3-capsule serving, from 2,500 mg of magnesium glycinate. It's printed in the Supplement Facts on the back of every bottle.

Is there melatonin in it?

No. There's one active ingredient: magnesium glycinate.

How do I take it?

Three capsules once a day, as the label says, or as directed by your healthcare professional. Don't exceed the serving.

I already take a multivitamin. Is that a problem?

Is it right for me?

Talk to your doctor before taking it if you're pregnant or nursing, under 18, or have a medical condition. That caution is on our label too.
